Find DC's Best New Restaurants Near YouWhat are the key ingredients to a successful, satisfying, and memorable bar and grill? This is a question many ask themselves as they sort through the hundreds of DC area restaurant listings, trying to find the best location for their budget, needs and appetite. While there is no single recipe for success, most patrons will agree that a mix of atmosphere, menu pairings, and location are the most important considerations taken into account when deciding on a new bistro. Owners Eric Lund and Ryan Seelbach, took these very significant considerations into deliberate account when designing their latest venue, TAKODA; aiming to deliver a truly remarkable experience in one of the most celebrated sections of the city.

DC’s U Street Landscape Comes Alive After Dark |
With so many bars and music venues on U-Street, it’s no surprise to hear that Shaw is one of the most popular segments of DC. This historic district of the city comes alive in winter months and is home to some of the most refined musical and visual entertainment venues on the East Coast; such the 9:30 Club - a favorite among many popular artists and performers looking to make big impressions on their nationwide tours. With such a diverse, competitive and creative atmosphere, Eric and Ryan decided it was important to design TAKODA in a manner that complemented its surroundings; one of the many reasons this multi-level, open-plan beer garden and whiskey bar decided to opt for a partially enclosed rooftop space. Developing the right ambiance wasn’t easy, but this mix of open and intimate space makes choosing the right after hours’ ambiance a quick, easy, and informal decision. Sample local bites, beer and bourbon; take in the sights and sounds of the bubbling side streets and enjoy a familiar, yet unique experience that only a handful of new Washington area restaurants are willing to attempt properly.
